Forensic Therapy Outside NWHT’s Scope of Practice
Northwest Holistic Therapies, P.S.’s [NWHT] services do not include forensic psychology which the American Psychological Association [APA] defines as “the application of clinical specialties to the legal arena.” 1 This includes, but is not limited to, assessments for schools, child custody evaluations, parenting evaluations, competency evaluations, investigations, and expert witness courtroom testimony, etc. This important work lies outside NWHT’s scope of practice and is its own specialty requiring specific training.
For more information, please read this article from the APA on Forensic Psychology. We recommend anyone needing these specific services access the American Board of Forensic Psychology for credentialed providers in your area.
However, in the course of providing client care, civil or criminal legal issues may arise for our clients.
